Our Story

About Simple Bible Reader

Why we built this

We wanted a quiet place to read Scripture: clear typography, useful study tools, and no account to manage. Simple Bible Reader brings that focus to everyday reading.

Simple Bible Reader Pro was built by an indie developer who wanted a Bible app that was genuinely simple — clean, fast, private, and powerful enough for serious study. Core reading and study tools run on your device, and your Bible reading data is not sent to our servers.

Privacy commitment

Your reading history, highlights, notes, and study patterns are yours alone. The app requires no account, keeps your reading data on your device, and core reading works offline. On supported iPhones, the on-device AI explains verses without sending the prompt to SimpleBible servers.

This isn't just a policy — it's the architecture for your Bible reading data. The free tier may display Google ads after consent where required; Premium removes ads.

Why Simple Bible Reader

  • Careful AI study — Tap a verse for a study note on iOS 26 or later with Apple Intelligence-compatible hardware. AI study notes are separate from Scripture and are not sent to SimpleBible servers.
  • Complete KJV — 66 books, 1,189 chapters, and 31,102 verses available for offline reading.
  • Free with optional Premium — Core Bible reading is free. A one-time Premium purchase removes ads and unlocks additional tools. See the App Store for current pricing.
  • Offline-first reading — Core reading, notes, bookmarks, search, and saved study content work without an account.
  • Fast KJV search — Find exact references and familiar passages without digging through menus.
  • Natural listening — Listen mode and playback controls support slower, calmer reading.
  • Careful citations — AI study notes stay visually separate from Scripture and point back to Bible references.

About the developer

Simple Bible Reader is built by William Wang, an indie iOS developer. The app is free to download with optional one-time Premium because everyday reading should stay accessible.

Bible text source

Bible text source: King James Version (1769 text). Published web verse text is checked against the same KJV launch source used by SimpleBible. Project Gutenberg identifies its KJV text as public domain in the United States. Rights treatment can vary by country; Cambridge University Press notes Crown rights for Authorized Version use in the United Kingdom.
